This cut-and-sew sweater was created from knit panels that I knitted and designed using a flatbed knitting machine. This piece was heavily inspired by the nostalgia I felt for my hometown while I was living in Milan. Growing up in central Ohio, quilting was a popular tradition amongst grandmothers, so I wanted to pay homage to the different elements of quilting through knitwear. I used a linking machine to create a diamond quilting effect on the sleeves, and designed a jacquard pattern inspired by classic red barns for the front. I gave the sweater extra long bell sleeves and a loose high-low fit so that the wearer would feel extra cozy, as if they were engulfed in a quilt. The Peter Pan collar was added for an extra touch of nostalgia and whimsy.
